Former US President Bill Clinton is to be the guest of honour at a Dublin charity dinner for the aid agency Goal, it was confirmed today.
The organisers have said that, as the cost of the function has been covered by sponsors, all the money raised in the €1,000-a-head gala function at the Burlington hotel will go to support the charity's work.
The event will be held on April 11th when President Clinton will be in Ireland to mark the tenth anniversary of the Belfast Agreement.
In a statement, the charity said it was honoured by President Clinton's support for the event. "Through his work with the Clinton Foundation, President Clinton is ... committed to helping the world's less fortunate," it said.
The charity was founded in 1977, initially focusing on improving the conditions of street children in Calcutta, but later running programmes in 50 countries.
