KABUL – US secretary of state Hillary Clinton and Afghan president Hamid Karzai spoke by telephone yesterday after the White House said it was seeking clarification of anti-Western remarks Mr Karzai made in a speech.
“They had a constructive conversation in a cordial environment,” Mr Karzai’s spokesman Waheed Omer said. “Both sides recommitted themselves to the partnership between the two countries.
“President Karzai said the Afghan people and the Afghan government were grateful for the support and sacrifice of the international community for peace in Afghanistan.” – (Reuters)
