Jerusalem - President Clinton has told American Jewish leaders that the US remains deter mined to push forward the Middle East peace process, Israeli newspapers reported yesterday. "Nothing will prevent me personally, and nothing will prevent the American government from forging ahead with the peace process," Mr Clinton was quoted as saying on Sunday during a meeting with American Jewish leaders at the White House. The newspaper Ha'aretz quoted Mr Clinton as saying that "the parties must make decisions on the basis of their long-term interests".

"Israel has a clear interest in achieving peace," he said.
