Paris - A French Jewish group yesterday condemned the decision by the management of a Paris cinema to cancel a special screening of the new Harry Potter film for an audience of Jewish children because it had received anti-Semitic threats.

Several hundred children were due to attend the screening at the Paramount Opera cinema in central Paris, which had been organised by the Keren Kaymeth Leisrael (KKL) group.

Following the threats, police had planned a substantial deployment but the cinema's managers decided to stop the project regardless.
