TEN feature films, a shorts programme and an animation workshop are featured in the Junior Galway Film Fleadh which runs at the city's Town Hall Theatre for four days from Wednesday next. Among the new feature films on the programme are Lynne Ramsey's critically acclaimed Scottish drama, Ratcatcher, and the very well-regarded Warner Bros animated feature, The Iron Giant.
Literary adaptations on the schedule include Jim Sheridan's film of My Left Foot, Douglas McGrath's Emma, Robert Mulligan's To Kill a Mockingbird and the Franco Zeffirelli version of Hamlet starring Mel Gibson. Ken Loach's superb Kes will be screened to mark its 30th anniversary and the line-up also promises the Irish-French feature, An Focal Scoir/Le Dernier Mot, the German Beyond Silence and the 1947 British film, Hue and Cry.
