In the Ireland in which we live, it is not fashionable for young people to respond to the call to live a truly Christian life, according to the Bishop of Killaloe, Dr Willie Walsh, writes Arthur Quinlan.
Dr Walsh was outlining plans for the young people of the eight dioceses in the south and west of Ireland who will be attending the 15th World Youth Day celebrations in Rome next August. He said that despite various difficulties, the church it was still a great force for good in the world.
The pilgrims will fly out from Shannon on August 14th for a vigil at the Tor Vergata University, Rome, on Saturday, to be celebrated by Pope John Paul 11.
