A CHILD who was seriously injured in a traffic accident six years ago is to be paid £250,000 costs under a settlement approved by the High Court in Dublin yesterday.
The claim was brought by Shane Black, now aged seven, suing by his mother, Ms Marie Black, of Rahoon Park, Galway. The action was against Mr William McDonnell, of Tuam, Co Galway.
Mr Paul Gilligan SC, for the child, told Mr Justice Johnson that the accident occurred on December 2nd, 1988, when he was a passenger in a car. He suffered significant injuries.
It was claimed that, when the car was at or near the Regional Hospital, Newcastle, Galway, there was a collision. The child was taken to Galway Regional Hospital with head injuries.
