A 66-year-old former childcare worker pleaded guilty at Kilkenny Circuit Court yesterday to seven charges of indecent assault on four males.
The court was told the offences occurred at an institution in Co Kilkenny on dates unknown between August 1976 and June 1977.
The case against Myles Brady, with an address at Griffith Avenue, Dublin, was adjourned by Judge Olive Buttimer to the June sittings of the Circuit Court for the preparation of psychiatric and medical reports on the defendant and for victim impact reports. Brady pleaded guilty when the seven charges were read out.
Mr Brendan Grogan SC, defending, asked that the name of the defendant not be used publicly. But Mr Stephen Lanigan O'Keeffe, for the prosecution, said he saw no reason the name should not be given as long as the names of the victims were protected.
Judge Buttimer said she also saw no reason for not giving the name of the defendant.
Mr Grogan appeared with Mr Tom Teehan, instructed by Mr Karl Johnston, solicitor.
