A case was adjourned at Monaghan Circuit Court yesterday in which a former leading GAA official faces 75 charges of indecently and sexually assaulting 11 girls and boys over 20 years. The charges relate to alleged offences against children aged 11-15 between 1958 and 1978.
Mr Frank Martin, prosecuting, told Judge John O'Hagan there were many witnesses and the trial would take some time. He thought it unlikely it would be reached at the next sitting in July. Mr Patrick MacEntee SC, for the accused, said he had no objection to a further adjournment. The defendant was remanded on continuing bail to July.
