A charity linked to the Masonic Order which runs sheltered accommodation for the elderly in Co Dublin is entitled to a sum of €1 million bequeathed to it by a widow who left an estate valued at more than €5 million, the High Court has ruled.
Mr Justice Roderick Murphy made the ruling in a judgment addressing a number of issues arising from the will of Edna O’Flynn, late of Riverside Drive, Rathfarnham, Dublin, who died in October 2000, having made her will in 1986.
Mrs O’Flynn was predeceased by her husband, Dr Bertrand O’Flynn, who died in 1996. The couple had no children.
Dr O’Flynn was a member of the Masonic Order from 1934 onwards.
