The energy regulator has granted a natural gas storage licence to Marathon Oil Ireland for the Kinsale gas field.
A statement from the Commission for Energy Regulation today said Marathon is permitted to inject and store third-party gas as reservoir in the Kinsale gas field during off-peak months.
