Sales at convenience retailer Centra rose by 14 per cent to reach over €1 billion last year, the company said today.
Speaking in Killarney, Co Kerry, Donal Horgan, Centra managing director, said 43 new outlets opened last year, bringing the total to 382. The group now employs approximately 11,000 people.
Another 40 Centra outlets are planned for this year, Mr Horgan said.
Commenting on the sales growth last year Mr Horgan said: "The once-a-week household shop is being replaced with multiple visits to convenient stores".
