Henrik Larsson guided Celtic to a 2-1 victory over Rangers in their Old Firm derby today, as the champions opened up a 10-point lead at the top of the Scottish premier league.
Belgian defender Joos Valgaeren scored from close range in the 58th minute and Sweden striker Larsson, who missed a penalty when Celtic won the season's opening derby on September 30th, made amends by converting from the spot in the 70th minute.
Peter Lovenkrands pulled one back for Rangers seven minutes later but it was too late for Dick Advocaat's side to deny the home side, despite some late pressure.
The win also gave Martin O'Neill's unbeaten team a commanding lead in the table, underlining their position as favourites for a second consecutive league title.
