Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has confirmed striker Chris Sutton will be out for four to six weeks with ligament damage.

The £6 million forward was taken off on a stretcher after landing awkwardly during an aerial challenge with Livingston defender Marvin Andrews on St Stephen’s Day.

O'Neill said: "It will be about four to six weeks. That's what the surgeon said. There is nothing broken. It is ligament damage but it is a blow for us."

Sutton will now almost certainly miss the CIS Cup semi-final against Rangers at the start of February as well crucial Premier League and Scottish Cup games.
