A US column called Turn of the Page, aka TOP, published in the Milwaulkee based Irish American Post and written by Mart Hintz has come Quidnunc's way. It is full of weird remarks and interesting suggestions, with talk of flame-haired Rita O'Hare, SinCity-on-the-Potomac, Ian Paisley's Fruit of the Loom briefs and even a future Taoiseach, Gerry Adams. The best howler of all reads as follows: "Ireland's Taoiseach Bertie Ahern led the crowd of Celtic dignitaries to D.C. this High Holy Season. Vice Prime Minister Celia Larkin was there looking Celtic warriorqueenish in her green Wolfangel suit."
Indeed Irish-Americans do tend to get a bit mixed up sometimes. When the real vice PM, Tanaiste Mary Harney was introduced at a speaking engagement in Chicago last month, a guest asked one of her departmental officials: "Is she married to the deputy prime minister?"
