Hundreds of Army deafness cases before the High Court have been further adjourned to July 11th so that negotiations aimed at speedier settlements may continue. Mr Sean Ryan, for the Minister for Defence, told Mr Justice Johnson yesterday some 282 cases had been settled and the rate of settlement was somewhere between 70 to 80 per cent. Counsel was applying for the adjournment of army cases on the Dublin High Court list only. He stressed Army cases listed for other parts of the country were not affected. In all, there are about 9,000 "army deafness" actions pending.
