A man who stole a heater from an ESB shop in daylight because, he claimed, his children were cold, had the case against him dismissed in a District Court yesterday.

Mr Holub Ondreu, whom garda∅ say is a Czech asylum-seeker, was staying at the Park Place Hotel, Killarney, across from the ESB shop at the time of the offence. On February 8th, he walked into the ESB shop, picked up a Dimplex heater worth £26, placed it in a bag and walked with it across the road. When garda∅ arrived with a warrant, they found him in the room with the heater on.
