Windscreens and windows of at least 10 vehicles have been smashed in attacks in west Belfast.
The cars were attacked in the Springfield and West Circular Road area overnight, close to a largely Protestant group of residents.
Sinn Féin condemned the hooligans responsible, believed to come from a nationalist background.
Assembly member Paul Maskey said: “Those behind the sectarian attacks on cars on the West Circular Road and Springfield Road junction are nothing more than mindless bigots.
“There is a long history of work by community and political representatives in diffusing interface tensions and enhancing and building community relations in the area. It will not be destroyed by someone who thinks it is a good idea to attack people just because of their beliefs.
“I am confident to state on behalf of the local community that these sectarian actions are not wanted, not supported and that those who are behind them have no sympathy from this community. They need to stop immediately.”
However, a police spokeswoman said there was "no evidence at the minute" to indicate a co-ordinated sectarian attack.
