Tom Carr spoke today about his "bitter disappointment" at being sacked last night as Dublin football manager after four years in charge.
Carr was let go from his position after a sensational meeting of the Dublin county board.
Speaking at a press conference this afternoon a disconsolate Carr explained how "disappointed" he was with the board’s decision.
"It’s unfortunate the way things turned out. We had been in the process of making plans for next year, freshening things up and all that.
"There are obviously certain decisions which are outside our control so there is nothing we can do about that".
Carr believed those directly connected with the Dublin team, the county board and the "county in general" could have all "done without" the whole episode, especially the "controversial fashion" in which it was dealt.
Dublin club delegates tallied a split vote - 46 to 46 - on whether to accept or reject the management committee recommendation not to give Carr and his selection team of John O'Leary, Richie Crean and Dom Twomey a fifth year in charge.
The management committee of John Bailey (chairman), John Costello (secretary), Seán O'Mahony (vice-chairman), Noel Murphy (assistant secretary), Gerry Brady (Central Council delegate), Jim Roche (Leinster Council delegate), Con Ryan (hurling representative) and Gerry Harrington (football representative) voted 4 to 3 last Wednesday against Carr staying in charge. Costello did not vote.
Last night, however, with the vote tied, chairman John Bailey - who had publicly supported Carr throughout the summer and has since been heavily criticised by the Dublin players - cast the deciding vote against him.
