Paris - Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Paris, read out his own mother's name when taking part in an annual public reading of names of the 76,000 Jews sent from France to Nazi death camps.
About halfway through the part of the list he was reading, Dr Lustiger pronounced the name "Gisele Lustiger', paused slightly and added "ma maman" (my mum) before continuing.
Dr Lustiger's mother was killed at Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland after being arrested in Paris during a Nazi round-up of Jews during World War Two.
