A 26-year-old man was told to "grow up" when a judge heard how he led gardai on a chase through north Dublin in a stolen car. Darren Clarke (26), of St Donagh's Road, Donaghmede, pleaded guilty in Swords District Court to taking a car in Raheny on July 26th, and driving it dangerously and without insurance. Mark Vickers (18), of St Donagh's Road, Donaghmede, admitted being a passenger in the car.
After he took the car from Raheny, Clarke lead gardai on a 90-minute chase around north Dublin, before returning to Raheny and giving up. Even on three wheels, he was going at speeds of 90mph.
"He's no starry-eyed youngster. He should grow up," said Judge Sean Delap as he sentenced Clarke to 22 months in prison. He also disqualified him for 15 years. Judge Delap sentenced Vickers to eight months' detention and disqualified him for three years.
