KUALA LUMPUR - Mr Yahaya Ahmad (50), head of Malaysia's national car-maker, Proton, was buried yesterday after a helicopter crash that also killed his wife and a pilot. The bespectacled, slight-framed automotive engineer, dubbed the "car czar" in Malaysia, virtually controlled the domestic transport business. He made international news last year when he bought British sports the car maker group, Lotus Ltd, for £51 million sterling.
