You might notice teams of people doing laps of the city and looking a little the worse for wear today, as the Dare Dublin adventure race winds its way through the city on foot, bike, kayak and whatever else the organisers have decided to punish the entrants with.
If you want to try some adventurous pursuits in a more accessible fashion, the RDS is hosting the Adventure Weekend today and tomorrow. The event gives adults and children the chance to try their hand at karting, zorbing, climbing, zip-lining, an aerial-assault course, a vertical wind tunnel and plenty more.
For those in search of spectator sports, the highlight is probably the demonstrations by the 3Run team (pictured), the world free-running champions (you might remember their antics from the James Bond film Casino Royale). The event is also hosting a mobile cinema and some top adventure sports films, including Bikes and Broken Bones, Windsurfing Movie 2 and surfing film The Lost Prophet. Tickets are €15, see theadventureweekend.ie for details. LAURENCE MACKIN
