Cannabis seized at Dublin Port

Customs officers at Dublin Port have discovered drugs concealed in a 40ft trailer that had arrived from Holyhead.

Customs officers at Dublin Port have discovered drugs concealed in a 40ft trailer that had arrived from Holyhead.

The 22kgs of herbal cannabis and 1kg of cocaine have a combined street value of €330,000, pending analysis. A man, in his 50s, was arrested and taken to Store Street Garda station.

Elsewhere, gardaí arrested a man following the discovery of cannabis plants in Co Waterford.

In an ongoing investigation, gardaí searched a house in Tallow yesterday evening and found the plants along with cannabis herb and resin. These have an estimated street value of €80,000.

A man aged in his 40s was arrested at the scene and is being held at Dungarvan Garda station.

In a separate seizure, gardaí in Co Carlow arrested a man after discovering cannabis plants in a house at Old Leighlin on Friday night. More than 300 plants were found, and gardaí put the potential value of the seizure at €242,000.

A man in his mid-20s was arrested and taken to Carlow Garda station.

Elsewhere, gardaí seized counterfeit clothing and goods with an estimated value of €100,000 from a Cabra house last Thursday, May 10th.

The items seized include counterfeit designer-labelled clothing, footwear and sunglasses. Gardaí also found industrial an embroidery and labelling machine, a vacuum-packaging machine and other unbranded clothing products.

No arrests have been made to date.
