The Board of Campus and Stadium Ireland Development (CSID) is meeting this evening to review the handling of the contract for the aquatic centre at the proposed stadium at Abbotstown.
The move follows an Irish Timesreport that the firm awarded the contract to operate the €62 million centre was a shelf company.
Waterworld UK had assets valued at £4 sterling and had never traded at the time of being awarded the contract.
The Minister for Tourism and Sport, Dr McDaid, told the Dáil yesterday that he had sought clarification on certain issues in relation to the contract which was supplied this afternoon.
CSID issued a lengthy statement last night defending its position and insisting that "all appropriate due processes were followed" in the selection of Waterworld UK's consortium. The outcome was "entirely in the public interest," it said.
Controversy over Stadium Ireland, which is part of the Campus Ireland project, surfaced last week after it appeared the proposed stadium would not be used in Football Association Ireland's application to co-host the UEFA football championships in 2008.
