A call has been made for funding to restore D·n Laoghaire's derelict sea baths. Mr Barry Andrews, son of outgoing TD Mr David Andrews and a candidate for his seat, called for funding to be used from the Government's £45 million swimming pool programme.
The sea baths were important for D·n Laoghaire and it was time to apply the swimming pool programme "to these eyesores", he said. He was concerned that D·n Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council might not apply for funding under the programme.
The Minister for Sport, Dr McDaid, did not give a specific commitment to the baths, but said he would be "interested to do what we can for D·n Laoghaire".
