Drinks group C&C has reported pre-tax profits of €105.7m for the six months to the end of August and increased revenues on the back of its Bulmers cider brand.

Profits were up by €58.1m on the same period last year. Operating profits rose by 6 per cent to €113.5m and revenue grew by 27 per cent to €532.1m. Earnings per share were up by 77 per cent to 28.7 cent.

The volume of sales for the group's cider brands grew by some 85 per cent. The period saw the extended distribution of Magners cider in Britain. Sales of C&C's Irish whiskey brand, Tullamore Dew, were up by 25 per cent.

C&C reported it had reduced its net debt by €62.6 million to €320.5 million.
