Comptroller and Auditor General John Buckley is to retire from his post next month, it has been announced.
President Michael D Higgins has accepted Mr Buckley’s resignation on the advice of the Government, a statement from Áras an Uachtaráin said.
Mr Buckley will retire on February 27th.
He was appointed in May 2008, succeeding John Purcell who had been almost 14 years in the position.

Mr Buckley, an accountant and barrister by profession, formerly served as secretary of the office of the C&AG and director of audit.
