Vulnerable road users will be targeted in a major campaign to be launched today by veteran broadcaster Gay Byrne.
The chairman of the Road Safety Authority, will unveil a scheme which will educate young pupils to cycle to school safely. In a move to drive the message home nationwide, the MACE Safe Cycling to School Safely Campaign will feature an art competition open to every primary school in Ireland.The initiative, which was first launched last year with the focus on walking to school with care, will be launched in the Dublin city school."Children are probably at their most vulnerable travelling to and from school," said a Mace spokesperson."Every parent, motorist and road user must play an active part in making sure that their children, all children are safe when using the roads."Parents in particular are best placed to teach children about road safety."
