Jenson Button will not test for BAR this week to allow him more time to recover from his Monaco Grand Prix crash, the Formula One team confirmed today.
"Jenson was given a full examination by the FIA's medical delegate, Professor Sid Watkins, yesterday," BAR said in a statement.
"It was considered more prudent for him to sit out his scheduled one day test in Monza on June 5th in order for him to concentrate on being fully fit to compete in Montreal."
The Canadian Grand Prix, eighth round of the championship, is on June 15th.
Button missed last Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix after crashing heavily in free practice and spending the night in hospital suffering from concussion.
The team blamed driver error for the smash.
BAR said the 23-year-old, who skewed across the track and hit the tyre wall sideways at around 290kph on the fastest part of the street circuit, had recovered well and had resumed his usual training programme.
Button said on Sunday that he could remember little of the accident, was not scared by it, and was looking forward to getting back in the car after the first big accident of his career.
