US President George W. Bush has said Washington's Reagan National Airport will reopen on Thursday, with new security measures to guard against an attack on landmark Washington buildings by planes using the airport.
"Thursday, flights will resume", Mr Bush said in a speech at the airport.
"We're taking the necessary safety precautions. Now it's time to start flying again".
The airport has been closed since the September 11th attacks on New York, Washington and Pennsylvania out of concern over its proximity to the Pentagon, the White House and other key Washington buildings.
