A burglar who concealed himself in a wardrobe in Clerys of Dublin has been jailed for three years for larceny of jewellery valued over £26,000.
Peter Tuke (21) of Doon Court, Ballymun, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to committing the offences on January 24th and February 2nd last.
The court heard Tuke concealed himself in a wardrobe in Clerys shortly before closing time. When the staff left he went to the jewellery department and took property valued £16,650 on the first occasion, and £10,141 on the second occasion.
Tuke also went to the sports department during his February visit but when he heard a security man approach he left the premises hurriedly through a rooftop opening.
