A 19-YEAR-OLD building worker has died in Dublin as the result of a fall. Mr Mark Loughrey, with an address in Mullingar, died yesterday after falling more than 20 feet from a site at Grand Canal Terrace, Dublin, on Wednesday.

The chairman of SIPTU's construction branch, Mr Mick Finnegan, yesterday said that Mr Loughrey's death once more highlighted the safety issue on building sites and also raised the question of inadequate compensation for the families of those injured or killed. He said that Mr Loughrey was too young to be covered by the Construction Industry Federation's pension scheme, which has a threshold of 21 years.
