The 25 year-old brother of a Kerry woman whose body was found near Tralee last week, has been charged in connection with her death.
At a specially convened sitting of Kenmare District Court tonight, Robert O'Brien of 6 St John's Park in Castleisland in Co Kerry, was charged with the manslaughter of Ms Elizabeth McCarthy (30).
Ms McCarthy, a married mother of three from Castlisland, was found fully clothed in a tidal stream in an area known as Kearney's Bridge on Wednesday.
Mr O'Brien has been remanded in custody until Wednesday, October 6th, when he will appear in front of Tralee District Court.
Gardaí arrested Mr O'Brien and another man, aged 30, following the find. The second man has been released without charge.
Ms McCarthy attended a relative's wedding at the Earl of Desmond Hotel in the town last Monday, about five miles from where her body was discovered.
She was reported missing on Tuesday, and her body was noticed by a passer-by walking his dog shortly before 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
Ms McCarthy, who was formerly from Castleisland, is survived by her husband, Patrick; three boys aged eight, six and two; and her parents.
