Broke into home of murder victims

A Dublin man who broke into a murdered woman's house to steal her video and television has been jailed for 10 months. Stephen Spencer (17), of Buttercup Park, Darndale, pleaded guilty in Swords District Court yesterday to breaking into a house at Buttercup Park on May 14th last.

He was arrested by Garda Gerard Campbell as he left the house. Judge Sean Delap was told the house was empty because the owner, Ms Martina Halligan, had just been murdered. "How mean can you get? There is no excuse for breaking into the home of a woman who was murdered," he said.
