A British army private charged with the murder of another soldier on a Northern Ireland army base, appeared in court today and was remanded on continuing bail.

Private Robert Alexander Hunter (22) whose address was given as Mahon Road army barracks in Co Armagh, was accused on June 19th of murdering Private Peter Wilkinson (21).

Private Wilkinson, from Ramsgate, Kent was married without children. He died in hospital on June 16th.

Both soldiers served in the 27th Regiment of the Royal Logistics Corps.

Private Hunter said nothing when he was charged with murder in June.

He was remanded today at Craigavon magistrates court on continuing bail until October 12th.
