A man who fractured his ankle during a break dancing competition lost his claim ford damages yesterday.

Mr Paul Neeson, of Sillogue Road, Ballymun, Dublin, was injured while competing in an area final in the Penthouse Pub, Ballymun, on October 26th 1990, the Dublin Circuit Civil Court was told.

Mr Neeson claimed he had slipped on drink spilled in the dance area when he came out to do his routine. But the promoter, Mr John Paul O'Brien, said patrons had been forbidden to use the dance area before the competition and it was also swept beforehand.

Judge Dominic Lynch said the plaintiff had failed to prove negligence against the Penthouse and dismissed the action with costs awarded to the defendants.
