A 14-YEAR-OLD boy has appeared in court charged in connection with the petrol bombing of a nightclub in Co Limerick at the weekend.

The teenager from Limerick city, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of causing criminal damage to Fireworks nightclub in Newcastlewest on October 5th. The boy is also accused of stealing a car earlier the same night.

He appeared before Bruff District Court yesterday. Joseph Barden (22) of Clarina Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston, also appeared before the court on the same charges.

Judge Timothy Lucey granted legal aid to the pair.

Solicitor Michael O’Donnell said he was reserving his position regarding bail.

The judge remanded the 14-year-old in custody to Oberstown House in Dublin while Mr Barden was remanded in custody to Limerick Prison.
