A 12-year-old Spanish boy was seriously injured last night when he was hit by a bus in Co Wicklow.
The schoolboy was stuck by a Dublin Bus at Herbert Road in Bray at around 5pm and rushed to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin. He was later moved to Beaumont hospital, where his condition is described as critical.
Gardai and Dublin Bus are carrying out separate investigations into the incident.
Elsewhere, two male drivers were taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with serious injuries after a collision on the Avoca Road at Corballis, on the outskirts of Rathdrum.
The men were the only people in the vehicles when the crash happened shortly before 8pm.
Gardai said the road would remain closed overnight and diversions remained in place.
Elsewhere AA Roadwatch warned motorists to drive with extreme care this morning as cold overnight temperatures have left roads icy and slippery.
The Wicklow Gap, Sally Gap and Roundwood areas remain impassable and extreme care is advised on all back roads. Motorists are being asked to avoid driving over high ground.
“Drive with extreme care, reduce your speed, leave extra time for your journey, keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front and use dipped headlights,” added a spokeswoman.
