A boy aged about 10 today became the fourth person in a month to die from a grenade attack in the region around the Chechen capital Grozny, Interfax news agency quoted authorities in the breakaway province as saying.
Muslim Bisultanov was fatally wounded in the head when the grenade exploded in the yard where he was playing in Prigorodny, a village near Grozny, Interfax said.
Authorities did not know where the grenade came from, the agency said.
Russian forces have been in the rebel republic since October 1, 1999, attempting to quash a separatist insurgency.
