The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) is to sell its central London headquarters to settle its debt with injured boxer Michael Watson, a newspaper reported today.

"I cannot envisage us remaining at Jack Peterson House [its headquarters]," BBBC general secretary Simon Block was quoted as saying in the Daily Telegraph.

"We have looked at a number of premises and will almost certainly be moving, either inside or outside London".

Watson sued the board for more than £1 million sterling after he suffered brain damage from his fight with Chris Eubank for the vacant World Boxing Organisation title at Tottenham Hotspur's White Hart Lane in 1991.

The High Court recently approved a settlement of £400,000, and the newspaper said Watson was prepared to accept to stop the board from going into liquidation.

The board's finances are already under administrators, although Block said the settlement would enable them to take charge of their own financial affairs again.
