Leeds midfielder Lee Bowyer could be facing a six-match ban, with the English FA poised to pursue two outstanding cases against him.
Following the end of the re-trial at Hull Crown Court on Friday, with Bowyer acquitted on charges of affray and grievous bodily harm, the FA can now begin their disciplinary actions into the 24-year-old.
The first of two misconduct charges came after Bowyer elbowed Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister in the face during Leeds' 2-0 FA Cup fourth-round loss at Elland Road on January 27th.
The charge emerged with the initial court case already under way, forcing the FA to postpone a hearing, which was then further delayed when that case collapsed due to a prejudicial Sunday newspaper article, so prompting the re-trial.
Then in mid-September, Bowyer was again charged with misconduct for using foul and abusive language as he is alleged to have sworn at referee Jeff Winter upon receiving a second caution and subsequent red card in the 2-1 win at Arsenal on August 25th.
If the FA hit Bowyer hard then he could face a six-game suspension - three matches for each charge - which would more than likely come at a time when he would again be fit, having already missed the last seven weeks with a hamstring injury.
