A Bosnian Serb parliamentary delegation is to visit The Hague later this week where 26 Bosnian Serb suspects are awaiting trial for war crimes, the parliament's vice president said today.

The delegation wants to examine the Bosnian Serbs' conditions of detention, said Zoran Djeric, vice president of the parliament of Republika Srpska, or the Serb Republic in Bosnia.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) has yet to set an exact date for the visit, Mr Djeric said.

Non-Serb parliamentary parties refused to take part in the delegation.

Republika Srpska - which along with the Muslim-Croat Federation makes up postwar Bosnia - is the only remaining part of the former Yugoslavia that has yet to start cooperating with the ICTY.

The RS parliament is to meet on September 12 to discuss a bill on cooperating with The Hague tribunal, that was approved on first reading in July.
