Referee Dermot Gallagher called the game off following severe weather in the North of England last night.

Heavy snow on Teesside and the promise of more to come left the area surrounding the Riverside Stadium unsafe.

The pitch was playable after being covered by a protective tent yesterday but safety issues outside the stadium were a greater concern with conditions on roads and footpaths expected to deteriorate during the day.

The match will now take place on Tuesday, February 3rd.

Middlesbrough lead the tie 1-0 on aggregate.

In Scotland,  the date of the third Old Firm derby of the season has been rescheduled.  Rangers will now host Celtic on Sunday March 28th, with a 12.30pm kick-off.
