A new book on Irish art was introduced yesterday by the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, Ms de Valera, at the National Gallery. Discover Irish Art, by Marie Bourke and Sigle Bhreathnach-Lynch, both of whom are attached to the gallery, focuses on the development of the visual arts in Ireland from the late 17th century to the present. The Department of Education and Science is to distribute a copy of the book, accompanied by slides, to every primary and post-primary school in the State.
