A new cross-Border company has published the Irish Almanac and Yearbook of Facts 1997, a 300-page paperback volume which assembles a wide range of information about life in Ireland.
The book has been published by Artcam, set up as a job-creation venture in Burt on the Inishowen peninsula in Co Donegal. It has been compiled by two of the company's directors, Mr Pat McArt, group editor of the Derry Journal newspaper group, and Donal Campbell, a graphic designer.
The new almanac features a chronology of this year's Irish events, the biggest Irish news stories, biographies of public figures, notable quotes, crime statistics and information about the Government, local administration, history, geography, industry, agriculture, business, tourism, religion, the media, sport, the arts and many other aspects of Irish life.
