THE National Safety Council has warned parents about the danger of fireworks and asked that they consider advising their children against participating in bonfire making.
If a bonfire is allowed, it should be supervised by adults who make sure:
. it is located away from buildings, trees and overhead cables.
. petrol or paraffin is not used to start the fire.

. rubbish which might contain bottles or aerosols is not thrown onto the fire.
. the fire is kept under control.
The council also asked parents to supervise "trick or treating". Older people, especially those living alone, can find bonfires and bangers and repeated knocks on their doors after dark disturbing and frightening.
