The Army bomb-disposal team has made safe a number of devices in Limerick today.
Personnel were sent to the Ballysimon area of the city this afternoon to deal with a number of suspected viable improvised explosive devices.
At 3.50pm, the team arrived at an overgrown area near a housing estate in the Ballysimon area following a request from gardaí.
The discovery of the devices came in an ongoing Garda investigation into organised criminal activity in the city. During their search, gardaí found a bag containing six devices.
These were made safe by the Army without a controlled explosion, although a number of properties had to be evacuated. The scene was declared safe at 5.50pm.
No arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing.
This is the 104th call out for Army bomb-disposal teams so far in 2012.
