A relative of an Omagh bomb victim confronted a man accused of plotting the bombing as he appeared at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin yesterday.

The man, who was visibly upset, shouted Mr Colm Murphy's name as he left the courtroom. He was ushered away by gardai as Mr Murphy stood in a hallway with his legal advisers.

Mr Murphy was earlier remanded on continuing bail until next Tuesday after the court heard that a book of evidence has been served on him. Mr Murphy (46), a building contractor and publican, is a native of Co Armagh with an address at Jordan's Corner, Ravensdale, Co Louth.

He is charged with conspiring in Dundalk with another person not before the court to cause an explosion likely to endanger life or cause serious damage to property in the State or elsewhere between August 13th and 16th last year.

Mr Gearoid Ryall, an assistant State solicitor, told the court that the book of evidence had been served and the trial was expected to last four weeks.

The court remanded Mr Murphy on continuing bail of £100,000 until next Tuesday, when a trial date will be fixed.
