THE Bogside Residents Group (BRG) last night announced plans for a series of parades in the centre of Derry on Friday night, just hours before up to 10,000 Orangemen are due to hold their parade in the city centre.
At a public meeting in the Pilots Row community centre in the Bogside, people were also asked to protest peacefully outside the Guildhall tomorrow afternoon when the Northern Ireland Secretary, Dr Mo Mowlam, is due to meet the Mayor, Councillor Martin Bradley, and community groups to discuss the issue of contentious parades.
Hundreds of people attended the meeting, which was addressed by the BRG spokesman, Mr Donnacha Mac Niallais, and Mr Gerard Rice of the Lower Ormeau Concerned Community Group in Belfast.
